Things I Love Thursday (late)

So it's been a minute since I last did a TiLT, eh? I think it's about time! But first I'll try to catch you guys up on what happened over my magnificent holidays!

♥ drank champagne for 2 weeks & suffered some terrible hangovers, saw friends I haven't seen in forever, played lots of video games, laughed a whole lot, hugged a whole lot, spend tons of time with our family, watched a "Moon Pie" rise (instead of drop) for the new years....it was such an incredible let down, saw a live cabbage patch kid that is now Will's nephew, crafted a good amount, slept in a lot & went to bed late, ate too much terrible food, did too much drinking, I HAD A BLAST!! ♥

I seriously feel revived from my 2 weeks off. I also already miss it. A week in to reality, and I already want to be back on vacation. ANYWAY!

The Futureheads I have been on a kick for the past few weeks & I may need some rehabilitation. I cannot stop listening to them! And I imagine that MrXStitch likes them, but that's only because they're both from the UK & I'm stereotyping. But they are a great band & I've included several videos for your visual & aural entertainment.

You'll recognize this one from Grandma's Boy, if you've seen it.

2009 Gonna be a good year! Because last year kinda sucked for me, for reasons I'm sure most of you are aware of by now. I have big hopes for this year & I don't think it'll disappoint. I've even made a resolution & so far I've been kicking ass at it. I had wanted to read at least one book a month, and I've already started on my second book. Woot woot!

Graduation!!! Although it's not any time in the next few days or so, I'm getting soooo close! I should have about 2 months left, after being there since the end of last January. I'm at 1160 hours out of the 1500 needed to graduate. I'm really proud of myself for sticking it out, because it's basically like having a full time job that I don't get paid for, then I leave & go to my job that does pay me. I will be glad when it's OVER!! And I got a jobby waiting for me!

*Honorable Mentions*
much needed relaxation, emergency pants, craftin', my new super fly shears, severe giggle fits at 4am with Will, seeing my cute pregnant friend Danica, doing absolutely nothing, pizza, mint chocolate chip ice cream, Will because he is always awesome, moon pies & fireworks, playing pictionary even though we sucked, my hello kitty doll Will got me (I'm an addict), MST3K, leg lamps, striped tube socks, giant purses, surprise paychecks ♥

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

I have a few crafts to show!

These are all from Urban Threads. Um...LOVE THEM NOW. I added this to my Etsy & it was sold right away!

Same with this one!
In all fairness, I listed them for Bliss & Bridget :) I do think they are absolutely adorable cupcakes though!

I also made this little guy...
I love him & he is MINE. If you would like for me to make one for you to buy though, I certainly will, just holla atcha girl!

I have a few more embroidery patterns I wanna stitch up, but I have my Mega Man towel I'm working on right now & a cross stitch in mind...that I may actually do tonight. Hmmm...

So that's it for the week! Maybe I'll keep up with it from now on since the holidaze is over.

Last Post of the Year!

I can't believe this year is already almost over! We still don't have any plans for New Year's Eve, but I'm sure we'll end up meeting up with our friends somewhere along the way. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past two weeks off. I needed a serious battery recharge. It's back to the grind full time on January 5th though!

I have a few projects that I got done on my break or before that. I didn't craft nearly as much as I thought I was going to but that's ok! I got caught up on a lot of snuggles & sleep :)

I finally finished my open-work scarf. After unraveling it 3 times (I can't fix knitting mistakes) I finally finished it. Haha, it's pretty long, I think it's about 8 feet long which makes for a pretty long scarf on me! It was my first time doing any kind of lacy looking open-work knitting & I really don't know why I didn't do it before because the pattern was super simple!
available @ my etsy for $23.00! sold!

You can kinda tell how long it is in this picture...a little too long for my body, i think!

I also made some cute little earrings. I needed a jewelry quickie!

available @ my etsy for $7.00!

available @ my etsy for $4.00!

I love the skull & crossbones earrings! They are so fucking cute! They even have real Swarovski crystals in them, which is why the price is a little higher than the dragonfly earrings.

Oh! I almost forgot my pretty pink fuzzy scarf! Dude, I have been on a serious scarf kick, I guess. This scarf is awesome, it's super duper soft too. Sometimes fuzzy yarn can be itchy to me, but this one's not. It's reeeeally nice :)

available @ my etsy for $23.00!

Aaaaand I even fit in 2 cross stitches!
The first one I think is only funny to me...kind of a long & pointless story but there was a show called 30 Days (thanks again, Bridget!) & one of the episodes involved a cake with the writing "Let's Agree to Disagree" & it just cracked my shit UP! I really don't even know why! Maybe just the thought of giving someone a cake that says that just tickles me...I dunno.
But it's such a great saying to me! You'll have people in your life that you will just never see eye to eye with or someone who will "always be right"...and I think this just sums it up pretty perfectly!
available @ my etsy for $18.00!

I am totally in love with that font. I don't care if it's a little hard to read, I love it! I picked up Alphabets Galore, which I wish I would've stumbled upon sooner, at Hobby Lobby a little over a month ago & this is one of my favorite fonts in it. And it's so quick too! I loved it so much that I used it for another cross stitch....

available @ my etsy for $15.00!

This one says "Snug It Out" which is a reference to the fucking hilarious & weird show on Adult Swim called Tim & Eric Awesome Show:Great job! Anywho, Zach Galifianakis is awesome & I love him & he plays a character called "The Snuggler"..

The Snuggler

It's absolutely ridiculous & absurd...I love that show :)

I guess that's my big craft update! I wish I would've remembered to take pictures of the custom orders I did this week. They were very simple & I really liked the way they turned out! Maybe the customer will post pics on the Customer Appreciation or something..

I got some really cute embroidery patterns from UrbanThreads, so I think I may have to stitch a couple tonight...I didn't realize how adorable some of their patterns are!

I hope everyone has a safe & wonderful New Year! I know I will definitely have to do a little detoxing once the new year begins...haha, a little too much indulgence the past few weeks :)

"Happy Birthday, Jesus. Sorry your party's so lame"

Tomorrow Will & I will put up & decorate our Christmas tree, which is so exciting to me because I'm so happy I'm excited about Xmas again, let alone putting a tree up! So I thought I'd share the story of mine & Will's first xmas tree experience together.

My family has always always had a real tree. We have always gone together to a tree farm, cut it down ourselves, all that. So when it was time for me & Will to get a tree, I insisted that we get a REAL TREE.

We drive to the farm that my family used to always drive to, which is way out in the middle of fucking nowhere (which will come into account later). Will is on the phone as we pull up, we hop out of the car, shut the doors...and I immediately realize we just fucked ourselves. Will, not being a multitasker, had left the keys in the car, in the ignition. His car automatically locks when the doors shut. We are locked out of the car with it still running. Haha! Ohhh god...

So after several obscenities & cigarettes, we realize we need to call a locksmith or a towing company. Ok cool. No problem...we have a phonebook...locked in the still running car. Great. We ask the employees if they have a phonebook. NOPE. I call my mom & she reminds me that I have roadside service. Sweet! I call them up & turns out my membership had expired maybe 2 months prior. I call my mom back & she is fucking pissed. But that's neither here nor there, it's just funny to hear my mom pissed off because she is, no joke, the sweetest woman in the world.

Will's dad brings us a phonebook, but that's all he can do since he doesn't have a spare key. We call around a few places & when I finally get in touch with someone they don't know where the hell we are. I thought we were in a town where we apparently were not. So...the towing company/locksmith doesn't know how to find us so I try giving them directions which is stupid because I suck at giving directions, especially to a place that's out in the middle of fucking nowhere, as previously stated. They somehow pinpoint the jurisdiction we're in & say they'll be sending someone out shortly. YAY!

Me & Will breath a sigh of relief & decide we're going to find our first tree. I pick out a big fluffy bastard & we start cutting. That turns out to also be a pain in the ass, since neither of us have any tree-cutting experience. As this is going on I get a call from the towing/locksmith company. Bad news. Guess what? On the way to come save our fucking day, the truck gets into a fucking wreck. No joke. It wasn't serious & everyone was ok & all that. Anyway, they say that was their only truck they had available. FUCKING FANTASTIC!! By this point, the day was so ridiculous that I was laughing hysterically. We make some more calls & find another person to come rescue us. "Be there in an hour!" they say. We haul our tree to get blown & netted (that sounded so strange). We haul it to the still running car & sit on the back. We watch the happy families leave with their stupid xmas trees & dogs. We wait. And wait. Finally I see our hero!! We've been at the tree farm for a good 3 hours now & I'm just ready to call it a day. He unlocks the car & we rejoice.

I go running to get one of the employees to tie the tree to our car. We're walking & I'm telling him about our day at his farm. He agrees that it sounds like a shitty day & he's happy that we've gotten someone to get us back in our car. He's ties the tree, tells us goodbye & he's gone.

We realize....he tied our doors shut. I thought, "you have got to be fucking kidding". And I burst into hysterical laughter again. One of the back doors isn't tied so we both climb in through the backseat.

We finally get back home with our real live christmas tree, put it in the stand & it is too. big. for. the stand. I go buy another one. My mom calls again & I tell her we're back home & she reminds me that I need to cut the tree again because it seals up after it's cut down & can't absorb water. Ohhh yeahhh! Too bad we don't have saws lying around the house. We actually get the biggest knife we can find & try cutting. Because we are fucking stupid & desperate. This doesn't work so we make a trip to Target to get a saw & a new bigger stand. Everything seems to be going well when we get back home. We get the tree up & it still won't stand straight up. We say fuck it & lean it against the wall. Ghetto as hell, but I'm still insisting we not get a fake tree, especially considering the day we had getting this fucker.

It continues to slump as the days pass & one day I take the tree down, rip the lights off & everything & drag it outside my damn self. Will & I go pick out a pretty but fake tree & spend the night decorating it. And it looked beautiful. In all it's artificial glory.

That my friends, is why I'm now an artificial tree convert.
